Regarding the media coverage of ““Legislators Forcing the Republic of China Military Academy to Change the School Song and Proposed to Freeze School Anniversary Budget”, the Republic of China Military Academy has provided an explanation as follows:

1. The Republic of China Armed Forces abides by the spirit of the Constitution of the Republic of China, strictly complies with the doctrine of “civilian control of the military”, and defends the resolution of democratic constitutionalism, with absolutely no compromises.

2. The school song of the Republic of China Military Academy consists of historical heritage; as modifying the lyrics violates the Copyright Law, the creation spirit of the original creator should be respected.

3. In conformity of the essence of “University Autonomy, the Republic of China Military Academy has been incorporating the issue of “Republic of China Military Academy School Song Modification” into school meetings according to the University Act since 2017, and it has been decided that the original lyrics of the school song will be retained after discussion with the participating committee members. The Republic of China Military Academy will be obliged to research into and handle this case cautiously in the future in accordance with the University Act.

4. The Army Command Headquarters respects the budget review proposed by legislators and will continue to communicate with the proposed legislators on explaining the issue in order to unfreeze the budget to facilitate school promotion.
